HCMT3350 : Healthcare Fiscal Management

This course explores financial management techniques for decision making for health care professionals. Students will learn the effective use and analysis of financial statements and reporting, various ratios and budgeting for healthcare organizations. Planning and control of cost factors in the healthcare industry are examined with the intent of efficient oversight. Financial management of modern hospital and health care systems is discussed from the perspective of a supervisory and management role.

HCMT4310 : Healthcare Policy and Regulation

This course discusses the various regulating agencies in the United States as well as broadly exploring policy and regulation surrounding healthcare practices. Topics will include government regulation of health care providers, patient consent to and refusal of treatment, privacy and confidentiality and health information management. Students will gain the ability to analyze policy and discuss how policy and regulation may impact ethical health care practices.

HCMT4360 : Healthcare Research and Capstone Project

This course taken in the final term prior to graduation provides students the opportunity to work closely with the instructor to select and examine a Healthcare Administration topic. Students will be required during the research process to use various resources including professional literature, both printed and electronic. This work will culminate in the production of a major research paper and presentation.
