NRSG3421 : Community Nursing and Public Health and Applications

This course is designed to stimulate the student’s critical thinking and analytic skills related to the community’s health and the public’s health concerns in the country. Students will explore the impact of social determinates of health on individuals, communities, and national and global populations, as well as the public and community health interventions to improve health. The course will identify how the various roles of the school nurse, home health nurse and other public health nurse roles positively impact the health of the child, family, community, and overall population through ongoing education of the population and its stakeholders. The student will analyze the roles of the nurse as an advocate, educator, policy influencer and leader in public health using evidence-based research. Prerequisites: NRSG1211, NRSG1351, NRSG1352, NRSG3320, NRSG1331, NRSG1960, NRSG2872, NRSG2271, NRSG2882, NRSG2380, NRSG3493, NRSG3494
